Community Project
Community service/community action/service as learning is an integral part of the IB MYP framework and philosophy. Students at MMS expand their experiences and personal development through community involvement in class curricula, clubs, extracurricular activities, and grade-wide initiatives. Students participate in and reflect upon their opportunities to make connections to, and impact communities beyond our classroom walls. All learners are expected to engage in community action in one of four ways: direct service, indirect service, research, and/or advocacy. The culmination of all Mountainside community action opportunities in Years 1 and 2 is the required IB MYP Community Project which is completed by all Year 3 Mountainside students (eighth grade). This is an extended student-driven project that is outlined in the handbook below.
